North America 2022 : Friday/Saturday September 2-3 Day 4-5 Convention Time

I spent days 4 and 5 of our trip at the convention during the day followed by dinner with Robyn and various people in the evenings.

On Friday it was a meal with Stephen Boucher, Janice Gelb and Eve Ackerman at Ocean Prime, a high-end restaurant, just over Michigan Avenue from the convention hotel.

Saturday was a rushed dinner with Nigel Rowe, and Mark Linneman before I had to head off to help put with the Fan Fund Auction, at which, believe it or not, I actually undertook some auctioneering. I enjoyed it and the night was a great success, raising over $US2,000.

During the day I hung around with Mark Olson and Laurie Mann in the FANAC area, discussing various projects, and then also helping with the Fanzine Lounge, where I met Alison Scott and John Coxon among others. The good thing about sitting in one place like this is that sooner or later everyone you want to see will roll past to say hello and chat.

The organisers of the fanzine area had built replica of Wilson Tucker’s fan den from 1946 which was an excellent display. 

It was quiet, it was interesting but not really worth reporting on.
