Europe 2017: Day #5 Life on the Water

Monday, 7 August 2017

The rain from the previous day had cleared out and we had perfect weather for our last full day in Stockholm. We had pretty much seen all that we had wanted to until Robyn pulled out an article from "The Age" Traveller section, dated 6 August 2016 that she had collected lat year.  Titled "On the Track for Art" it went into some detail about a number of stations on the Stockholm underground network that were famous for their artwork.  We had already decided to book a boat cruise in the mid to late morning and, as it happened, the booking spot was quite close to one of the major stations recommended.

A short trip from our local station to Central and one more stop over to Kungstradgarden station and we could see what the article writer was getting at.

Melbourne Metro could take a leaf out of Stockholm's book in this regard.

The cruise around the harbour followed  as we were able to sit and rest our weary legs and feet for a couple of hours.

Lunch was then back on Gamla Stan, followed by a brief visit to the Nobel Museum. Then I went back to the hotel for a rest and Robyn went window shopping.

And then, for the first evening on our trip, we actually went out, on a dinner cruise around the Stockholm archipelago which provided us with harbour views of the Vasa Museum

and of the various harbour-side mansions.

A late night stroll home and we were done.  After getting to bed at 6:30pm on the first night we had gained an hour each night to finish our day, this day, at 10:30pm.  It seemed very, very late.
